HISSCIVILIZATION was his third (and basically JUPITER's last) solo album in 2002. "It is his best and most complicated album. A masterpiece that cannot be explained in words." It is very STEREOLAB-like, which may have confused early fans.. And as it was released without promotion in Brazil, the fact is that many people simply don’t know it exists." One thinks of Syd BARRETT, Robert WYATT, STEREOLAB etc., immersed in that fantasized `60’s space age, where baroque music, electronic sounds and Sunshine Tropicalia were mixed to create something entirely new...

JUPITER APPLE, Júpiter Maçã and Flavio Basso were multiple identities for one extremely eclectic artist from southern Brazil. During his lifetime he was entitled to hyperbolic praise from OS MUTANTES, Caetano VELOSO and even Sean LENNON. Very sadly, Flavio Basso was found dead on December 21, 2015, aged only 47; the cause of his death later revealed to be multiple vital organ failure. ... more
